Rock the Block

Habitat Oakland County’s Rock the Block program is part of our Neighborhood Revitalization effort which provides block clean-up and blight removal to residents in specific focus areas of Oakland County. The work is completed by volunteers and sponsors under the guidance of Habitat Oakland.

Habitat Oakland County will host 4 Rock the Block events in 2024.

Eligibility Update

In efforts to further spread our mission to more of our community members, we have implemented a new eligibility rule as of 2022. Previous Rock the Block program participants are now eligible for services every other year. This rule has been established to reduce the number of repeat participants each year.

For example, Rock the Block participants who received services in 2022, are eligible for services again in 2024.

Rock the Block is a community initiative by Habitat Oakland, uniting homeowners, volunteers, community sponsors, and staff to drive neighborhood revitalization efforts. This transformative series comprises four impactful two-day events, each designed to bring immediate and visible change to multi-block areas. Volunteers work with Habitat’s construction staff to perform yard clean-up including leaf removal (front and backyards), trash removal (dumpsters on site for residents to utilize), limited branch trimming, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, and edging. Rock the Block aims to ensure that homeowners reside in safe and appealing environments. The program not only contributes to the enhancement of home values but also plays a crucial role in fostering neighborhood stability.
